This is from a collection of eco-friendly, fair trade, hand-loomed Thai silks that I purchased from the owner of a wonderful small company that specializes in decorative items for the home. She travels to small villages in Thailand to bring back these exquisite silks, and over the years has accumulated quite a diverse collection! I hope you will enjoy and appreciate these cloths which are produced by artisans using ancient weaving traditions. The silk worms are raised by the villagers and the silk is hand-spun, hand-dyed and either handwoven or with the help of a weaving machine. This one is a silk ikat, yarn-dyed using a natural dye, not printed, with an intricate ikat design in the middle and a solid edging along both selvedges. The colors are mauvey pink and blush (PANTONE 15-1614 is close). It has the crispness and weight of a dupioni or shantung and is completely hand-loomed. It will have slubs and variations in the weave that are typical of handspun silk. Perfect for home decor or jackets, skirts, etc. (To find out more about this product and its care, click here.) 7.5 yards available. |
