Wow, what a stunning weave and wonderful blend of fibers this is! It's a French clipped weave (similar to a jacquard or damask but the long fibers are cut to a tiny fringe around the design elements) with a floral design in a gorgeous poppy red color with touches of purple and orange spice (PANTONE 18-1651, 18-3633, 15-1058-ish, etc.). It's lightweight with a bit of crispness to the drape and is just a wee bit sheer. A blouse, shirt or tunic would not necessarily need lining, but for a dress or skirt I would recommend lining with habotai, crepe de chine, or if you want a bit more crispness, organza. The face/right side (shown) is the side that doesn't have the clipped edges around the design. Dress up or down--works equally well with anything from denim to dupioni. I suspect that this fabric is best dry cleaned, although feel free to test a swatch to see how it does with hand- or machine-washing.
